Welcome to 2017.
Welcome to 2017. I went to Segway Polo for the first time this year today and it got me thinking, what do I want to get out of this year?
As I headed to the field, the sky was filled with this omniscient yet gentle grey cloud. As I greeted my fellow players, there was an exciting sense of anticipation to get back at it, and prepare for the next fight. As I stepped onto the astroturf, for me, the room fell silent. There was a whirr of cold Segways heading out to play and the tearing noise as the wheels began to kick up the loose grit in the surface; yet I couldn’t hear any of it. I was focused and deep in mind.
We began to glide around at a steady pace at first but gained speed once we found our inner confidence again. It’s good to be back. There’s a live stream of the final chukkas on my Facebook page so head over and check that out!
It made me think, with the heavy schedule we already have of tournaments ahead, what exactly do I want to achieve this year? Defining this will help you to tailor your practice/ training sessions leading up to important events.
Personally, I’d like a little more confidence in close quarters. I step into the goal zone as this is where I feel most comfortable; I am not fond of the confrontation.
I’d love to know what you want to work on this year. What are your Segway Polo goals? And if anyone says, to score past you EVERY time, I’m sorry to say that you don’t stand a chance!
Welcome to 2017 friends, may it bring you joy, peace and happiness.
