SA17 Favourites

Hi Friends,

I have put together a list of all the things I’ve been loving this season! Let me know in the comments what you’ve been obsessed with.

Brows:
I have always been a slave to a sharp brow cautiously created with the Archery Brow Pencil by Soap and Glory which is a pencil nib but the product is soft enough to glide on your skin, leaving a crisp outline and is great for ‘life-like’ brow hairs. However recently, I’ve switched to powder for a more natural look which firstly is easier and faster but I am also loving the messy brow look as we head into a season for bold brows and bold lips.

Lip:
The Summer season was full of nudes and brown neutrals. I’ve loved to go for Pop by Clinique which is perfect for a ‘your lips but better’ soft lip with a satin finish or the 03 by Rimmel which is a matte.

Fragrance:
As I have moved out, I had to pack everything up and in doing this I found some real treasures including my Jack Wills Original scent. I’ve had it for years but it got lost in my drawer and I have loved using it again. It is a rollerball too – I love these because they fit in a small bag easily so you can stay smelling beautiful all day long.

Home:
Its been so nice to start and make my apartment feel a little more, well, mine. In June, I moved into a furnished apartment in the Country House of a cute little farm in the middle of nowhere that reminds me of happy childhood memories. Apart from the essentials, a kettle, a TV and weekly groceries, I really didn’t have to add much in order for me to live there comfortably, but there also isn’t much room for personalisation because it already has decor. So I’ve chosen some seasonal bedding, I’ve brought a few candles and I’ve given my slippers a home; I think I’m getting there. I’m going to do an upcoming blog post with a glimpse of my apartment so look out for that if you like interiors.

Misc:
I live in Central England – It’s been bloody cold. My favourite item of the season has to be my water bottle. I’ve found it very comforting to snuggle up on the sofa at night with my hot water bottle and watch some rubbish on the TV, spending more time watching the wildlife outside my window than the programme. On really chilly nights, I’ve been grabbing a blanket too, just until my fire has warmed the place through enough for me to put it away.

Food:
As you all know by now, I am following a plan called Slimming World, similar to Weight Watchers and a few others out there. This means that I am watching what I eat and still having, but monitoring, treats too. So far, I have lost 4 stone in 9 months. When I moved in here, I didn’t consider how difficult it would be to start off with an empty kitchen. My parents have a large variety of ‘Cupboard Essentials’ that I simply could no longer access and I’ve had to slowly build my own. One thing I love about living in the countryside is all of the little farm shops where I can buy some exotic-looking veggies and eggs because you should always support the little, local businesses!

Drinks:
Winding down of an evening in my apartment is one of my favorite things about living alone because it’s so quiet here without the bustle of family-living. I’ve never been a tea fan however I have recently discovered Peppermint Tea and found that it really helps me to get to sleep. I make it by taking a teabag and filling my mug with hot water, leaving it to infuse for around 2 minutes before beginning to drink it, with the bag still in and I don’t add any Milk; you should give it a try and let me know if you feel sleepy too.

Looking ahead:
Autumn is my favorite of all the seasons! I love getting cosy and snuggling into big blankets with the fire and a good book, mug of hot chocolate in hand! I can’t wait for all the shops to start selling giant wooly jumpers and Autumn scented candles. Starbucks has already released their Pumpkin Spiced Latte therefore it is officially approaching! I’m looking forward to hitting the Year milestone of being a SW member and seeing what weight I can reach before then; I have also recently joined Parkrun and I hope to continue to attend a few more of these, even if today’s one I did this morning was in the rain and very muddy, unlike the last one I did which was a crisp but dry morning.

I can’t wait for Halloween with spooky but cheesy decor and seeing everyone’s dress-up outfits. Maybe I will share mine in the next post..

Until then, take care!

Love,
Meg xx
